Instructions
Note: This database is for public use. As it’s a singular database, we could have 100s of users filtering results for their own city and preferred cuisine at any given moment. This will obviously throw off any filtering you are doing at the time.
However, we have some optional tiers you can choose from to mitigate this:
Standard: This is free. You would have to create a Notion account. Then email us at everyexpatinkorea@gmail.com to let us know your email address associated with your Notion account. Then we give you exclusive access to your own database of our content. You can filter and sort to your own preferences and you will still receive new updates from this main database as we add more restaurants.
Pro: Same as standard above. But for just $5 a month, we can curate content that suits your interest. For example, if you live in Gangdong-gu and are vegetarian who also likes to try out new local cafes on the weekend, then we can place a priority on content curation for your interests. You can also have this monthly cost waived by being a Brand Ambassador.
Brand Ambassador. Same as above. But free. Exclusive access to your own database of all our content that you can sort and filter to your interests. And we’ll prioritize your curation requests. But you will have had to introduce at least one active sponsor or restaurant advertiser for us to waive any associated fees. Likewise, if you are willing and able to intro more advertisers (or if you live in an area where we have requests from potential advertisers but we just need someone to go there, take pictures, interview owners, etc), we can pay you for this. Email us at everyexpatinkorea@gmail.com to discuss more.
The Main database displaying all restaurants
Choose one or more cuisines a restaurant serves, or add your own.
This view is populated by checking the “Not Tried Yet” category. Select this view when wanting to check out somewhere you’ve been meaning to try. (Add to your restaurant list as soon as you hear of a great new place!)
Sometimes, you’ve reached your last brain cell and no one knows what they want. This category randomly shuffles the restaurant list randomly, allowing new options to rise to the top. You can refresh it once per minute. I know it’s not on command, but it’s the best workaround I’ve found for the time being! The location and budget filters are also included to further narrow options down.
On Mac or PC: Use the ⌘R command on the Mac app, and ctrl + R on the PC app.
On the phone app, once per minute, you can leave the Where Do We Eat dashboard, then return to it, and the list should have changed.
A way to be able to filter out the places that are or aren’t appropriate for children.
Check this box if it’s somewhere you can dine al fresco
Some people want it, some people want to avoid it. A multi-select where you can choose which it is.
The $ is subjective, but you can also go by Google or Yelp’s classification. Set these according to your personal preferences, in order to be able to filter ($) for your current budget in this view.
Add cities where you go to eat here. I’ve designed it as a multi-select, so that if a restaurant is a chain with more than one location, you can add all cities where it’s found.
Optional. Use this if the restaurant has a specific food or meal that you tend to crave. For example: they make a really good Bloody Mary.
Check this box if the restaurant offers takeout
- Sometimes you don’t know what you DO want, but you DO know what you DON’T want…You can use the “Don’t Want” checkbox and “Don’t Want” filter (select unchecked) to narrow down the options.
Select a restaurant type category. I’ve tried to include all of the main ones, but feel free to add to the list!
Add the URL to the restaurant, or to an article where you read about it.
Check these boxes if you haven’t been to a restaurant yet.
Add the URL where you normally go to order takeout online.
Select which meals the restaurant is open for.
