A community
built for life
in Korea.
From Galbijim in 2005 to 117,000+ members in 2026, Every Expat in Korea has helped newcomers, long-term residents, and globally minded locals navigate work, housing, friendships, family life, and everyday living in Korea.

The knowledge base returns
EEIK grows into a modern publishing and community platform with 117,000+ members and a growing newsletter ecosystem.
Before EEIK, there was Galbijim.
Back in the mid-2000s, information for expats in Korea was scattered, outdated, or hidden in forums that were hard to navigate. Galbijim emerged to help bridge that gap, surfacing practical information, local knowledge, and real conversation.
As the internet changed, so did the way community worked. EEIK became the faster, more social, more immediate answer: a living network where questions could be answered in minutes, not days.
The goal was never just content. It was connection.
Recognized by Facebook.
In 2019, Facebook selected Every Expat in Korea as one of a small number of standout Groups worldwide, chosen from among millions as an example of how online communities help people build real-world support networks across borders and cultures.
Facebook sent an international production crew of more than 60 people to Korea to film a television commercial about EEIK. The commercial broadcast across the United States and Europe during the Christmas season. At the time, EEIK had fewer than 50,000 members.
