1. Who we are and what this covers

Every Expat in Korea (EEIK) is a community platform operated by Expat Marketing, a Korean-registered business. The EEIK website (everyexpatinkorea.com and associated domains) provides content, directories, tools, and community features for English-speaking expats, tourists, international students, and foreign residents in Korea.

These Terms cover your use of the EEIK website and all features within it, including city and neighborhood content pages, subway station pages, the Facebook Groups directory, business listings, articles, the Heol community feed (when launched), the forum and Q&A system (when launched), job and housing listings (when launched), and AI-powered tools.

By using the EEIK website you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.

2. Content and information accuracy

2.1 General

EEIK publishes content to help people navigate life in Korea. We try hard to keep it accurate and useful. However, we make no guarantees that any content on the site is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for your specific situation.

Do not rely solely on EEIK content for decisions involving safety, health, legal matters, finance, or significant travel commitments.

2.2 Transit and transportation information

The EEIK Transit Confidence Layer is provided for general orientation only. This includes subway arrival estimates, train schedules, KTX and intercity rail guidance, taxi guidance, public bike availability data, last-mile transportation recommendations, and exit guidance.

Transit data is sourced from public APIs including Seoul Open Data, MOLIT/TAGO, and other government sources. These sources have their own limitations, delays, and gaps in coverage.

EEIK is not a navigation service, booking platform, real-time tracking system, or official transit operator. We are a plain-English interpretation layer designed to help foreigners understand transit decisions. We are not responsible for missed trains, missed flights, incorrect routes, transport delays, or any costs arising from reliance on transit information published on this site.

2.3 Business listings

Businesses listed on the EEIK site are included for informational purposes. EEIK does not verify, endorse, or guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or continued operation of any listed business. Hours, prices, locations, and services change. Verify directly with the business before visiting or making a purchase decision.

Businesses that advertise or sponsor content on EEIK are identified as such. Paid placement does not constitute EEIK's endorsement of the business.

2.4 Recommended Facebook Groups

The EEIK website displays recommended Facebook Groups on city, district, and station pages. These groups are curated by EEIK editorial staff for relevance. Recommending a group does not mean EEIK owns, operates, moderates, or endorses that group or its content. EEIK is not responsible for content posted in any Facebook group, including the main EEIK Facebook group.

3. What EEIK is not

To be unambiguous:

• EEIK is not affiliated with Seoul Metro, Korail, SRT, Kakao, Naver, KakaoMap, or any transit operator or mapping platform
• EEIK is not an official tourism authority or government body
• EEIK is not a licensed travel agent, booking platform, or transportation service
• EEIK is not a real estate agency or licensed housing service
• EEIK is not a licensed employment agency or job placement service
• EEIK is not a licensed legal, financial, medical, or immigration advisory service
• EEIK is not responsible for the content of any external Facebook group, even groups listed in the EEIK directory

4. AI-powered features

4.1 AI transportation assistant

The EEIK site includes an AI-powered transportation assistant designed to help you understand transit options in Korea in plain English. The AI assistant may be wrong, outdated, or unable to understand your specific situation. Do not use it as your sole source of information for any transit decision with real consequences.

When the AI assistant is uncertain, it will suggest posting your question in the EEIK Facebook community for human local knowledge.

4.2 AI content tools

Other AI-powered tools on the site produce output that should be reviewed before use. EEIK makes no guarantee that AI-generated content is accurate, appropriate, or suitable for publication.

4.3 AI hallucination

AI tools can generate plausible-sounding but incorrect information. This applies to our AI features as well. Verify important information independently.

5. User-generated content

5.1 Heol feed, forum, and Q&A (when launched)

When EEIK launches community features, users who submit content agree that their content is their own, does not violate Korean law, does not defame or harm any person or business, and does not include hate speech or discriminatory language. EEIK may remove, edit, or hide any content at our discretion, without notice or obligation to explain.

By submitting content to any EEIK community feature you grant EEIK a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, share, and use that content in connection with operating the EEIK platform.

5.2 Job and housing listings (when launched)

Users who submit job or housing listings represent that the listing is genuine, legal under Korean law, and accurately described. EEIK is not responsible for the accuracy of user-submitted listings or for any transaction, dispute, or outcome arising from a listing found on this site.

6. Third-party links and services

The EEIK site links to third-party websites, apps, and platforms including Facebook, Seoul Open Data, Korail, Kakao T, and others. These links are provided for convenience. We do not control those platforms and are not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices, or accuracy.

Clicking a link to an external site means you are leaving EEIK and entering that platform's own terms.

7. Intellectual property

7.1 EEIK content

Original content on the EEIK website (including written articles, editorial copy, curation work, community guides, and site design) is the property of Expat Marketing. You may not reproduce, republish, scrape, or commercially redistribute EEIK content without written permission.

7.2 Public data attribution

Transit data displayed on this site is sourced from Seoul Open Data and other Korean government open data platforms under the Korea Open Government License Type 1, which permits use with attribution. Attribution is provided within relevant site pages.

7.3 Facebook Groups directory

The EEIK Facebook Groups directory is a curated index of publicly accessible Facebook Groups. EEIK does not claim ownership of any Facebook Group listed in the directory. Group names, descriptions, and membership figures are the property of their respective groups and Facebook.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Korean law and the laws of any applicable jurisdiction, EEIK and Expat Marketing are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this website or reliance on any content within it, including but not limited to:

• Missed transportation connections
• Costs arising from incorrect transit, schedule, or fare information
• Losses arising from business listing information
• Outcomes of interactions with businesses, groups, or individuals found via EEIK
• Outcomes of reliance on AI-generated recommendations
• Data loss, service interruptions, or technical errors

Your use of this site is at your own risk.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any disputes arising from use of this site will be subject to the jurisdiction of Korean courts.
